Giving & Partnership Review

Investigate an organization, intended use of support and unanswered questions before committing.

Make
An organization review, proposed contribution record and reporting questions.
Working time
30–50 minutes · estimate
Start with
An organization or public-benefit proposal to research.

Learn

Build on what you can show.

Start with the organization’s mission, program evidence and official contact route. Match your intended contribution to an actual need. Compare public records with the organization’s own explanations and leave conflicts visible.

Clarify who would receive the contribution, permitted use, any restrictions, fees and the reporting arrangement. Time, skills, goods and money require different practical arrangements. Do not infer that a proposed partner has accepted your terms.

IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search provides status and filing information, but some eligible recipients may be absent from Publication 78 data. Use the IRS explanation of other eligible donees when relevant. A listing is not a program-quality rating, and this worksheet does not determine the tax treatment of a gift.

  • The organization and official source are identifiable.
  • Claims, independent records and unresolved questions remain distinct.
  • Recipient, use and reporting expectations are recorded.
  • No commitment or tax conclusion is inferred from an incomplete review.
